You want mud? This is the Tough Mudder course for you! Coming towards the end of the Tough Mudder UK season is my “home” event – Tough Mudder North West, based near Crewe and Chester, just 20 minutes off the M6, Junction 16.
Tough Mudder North West is known to be the muddiest course – ever seen any Tough Mudder muddy photos – most likely taken at this course – dont believe me? Just skip to 2.30 for the footage of the infamous “Sewer Rat”. Whilst Swamp Stomp, Kiss of Mud and Mud Mile seemed to be on another level compared to other courses.
This course is relatively flat with a lot of trail running, ground seemed to be a little harder than ususal, probably because of the very dry year we have had. The video is from the first wave on Sunday morning – so the course is nicely churned up from the Saturday participants and those taking on Europes Toughest Mudder. Huge wave, but we spread out quite quickly which why the course looked a little quieter than usual.

Final thoughts
MUD MUD MUD – if that’s what you want, then Tough Mudder North West is the course for you. Sewer rat was well churned up, even by 11am on Saturday morning, so those taking it on on the Sunday had a lot of fun in the mud. It was so muddy, people were trying to clean off in Mud Mile!
