Storm 3km hosted by Forder’s Gym
The Storm 3km Obstacle Race hosted by Forder’s Gym for British Obstacle Sports withh Dave Peters as the Race Director.
The open wave course (which I ran) was the same as the 3km British Championships course in which Elite, Competative and Adaptive athletes competed earlier in the day. The only difference was lack of penalties for failure/non-completion.
“Only” 3km in distance, but managed to pack a punch with a balance of intensity, strength and grip obstacles. Being hosted by Forder’s Gym, there were some “functional” strength aspects added (Sled push anyone?) and it was great to see the return of a “bridge of despair”.
And what “classic” British obstacle race doesnt have mud? Well the last 500m or so had it by the dumpster truck full (and probably caught out some competitors by how deep, thick and gloopy it really was)
I took on the course and showed me how much rig practice I would need if I really wanted to compete in the “European” style of racing.

Storm 3km OCR final thoughts
A really good fun 3km course. A great mix of obstacles densely packed into a tight course. Balance, climbing, rigs, strength – they were all included with thanks to the permanent obstacles from Forder’s Gym and the experience of a race director in Dave Peters.
Waves were small due to the course, but this really brought a personal touch to it – as did the start in the container!
Can’t wait to do another 3km!
