Spartan South West – Sprint Race 2024
I love the double header weekend of Spartan and Tough Mudder at the South West venue (Badminton). Its great to mix up the obstacles and the course for both days.
The Spartan Sprint is the shortest Spartan obstacle race (around 5km, whils this particular one was just over 6km). Spartan also ran the Beast distance (around 21km / 13miles / half marathon).
Not many obstacles in the first half of the course, but it starts to become very obstacle dense – especially over the last mile with Bucket carry, 8ft walls, atlass carry, hercules hoist, rope climb, A frame, spear throw and multi-rig.
A great race for the participants, but not a lot to see for the spectators.
Managed to film all obstacles (from the open wace around 10am) and thanks to Phil and James, got a lot of photos too!

Spartan Sprint South West 2024 final thoughts
What a fast course – just over 6km with the elite men finishing it in under 30 minutes. A relatively long run out for the first 3 obstacle (around 1.5 miles / 2km) and then it starts to become obstacle dense! Unfortunately due to this, not spectator friendly – but what a course for the runners
Scores on the doors
Great for the trail runners who enjoy a good run out
- Trails without the elevation
- FAST! - Great gaunlet of obstacles at the end
- Not spectator friendly
