The new 361 Europe Ventus

361 Europe Ventus Thoughts

The 361 Europe Ventus is a new daily trainer that has been introduced as a replacement for the 361 Europe Spire – my favourite 361 model 😫. Designed for  your regular runs – its an “every day” workhorse.

First, some technical information:

  • Midsole: The Ventus features a dual-midsole construction. It combines Primo foam with a core of CQT EXTREM3, which is a PEBA-based material. This combination aims to provide a balance of cushioning and energy return.

  • NEW REAR FOOT PLATFORM GEOMETRY: Ensures more cushioning upon heel strike to protect the body against the impacts of running.

  • NEW GEKKO GRIP: Forefoot rubber provides excellent traction, assisting the foot grip the ground and propel forward on toe-off.

  • HIGH ABRASION RUBBER TECHNOLOGY: H.A.R.T. The anti-abrasion rubber in the rear provides tough and durable grip for the high-wear area of ground contact.

  • 35% RECYCLED YARN UPPER MESH MATERIALS with great ventilation.

The ride as smooth and engaging, with a noticeable bounce compared to the Spire. It’s considered versatile, suitable for everyday miles – I would suggest around the 10km + mark. They’re not “speed” shoes (which I would suggest looking at the Flame or Meraki)

The first time I used them was  for a local 5 mile race. So comfortable, no hot spots and noticably responsive (bouncy) compared to any other road shoe I have used. I believe this is down to the new sole and foam combination.

Ive continued to use them for road races including, most recently, the Lisbon Half Marathon

361 Europe Ventus - Final Thoughts

The Spire really were my favourite model, however the 361 Europe Ventus have easily surpassed them. Being able to take them straight out of the box and into a 5 mile race says it all about their fit and comfort!
